Zhenjiang, Jiangsu – Set up in 2013, silicone surfactants maker 3W Materials has been expanding its portfolio to cover polyether polyols.
The firm said it has developed eco-friendly specialty polyols which were trialled with customers in early 2015.
Last year, China’s polyether polyol capacity exceeded 4m tonne/year but only 2.8m tonnes were produced, according to a copy of China Polyurethane Industry Association’s proposal for the 13th Five-Year Plan for China’s PU sector seen by UTECH-polyurethane.com.
“One of the advantages for a latecomer is that we can easily keep pace with our customers in their transition towards greener, safer businesses,” said Helen Ke, 3W Materials’ communications director said.
“We can develop customised solutions within one month, compared to a three-month period it usually takes large international companies,” Ke added.
“And we also provide customized solutions at a much smaller volume.”
Based in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu, the company employs 100 staff and has a 5,000 tonne/year silicone surfactant capacity at its plant in nearby city Nanjing. It is also actively seeking expansion in Southeast Asia.
