Baton Rouge, Louisiana-Albemarle Corp. is to increase prices of itsAntiblaze phosphorus-based flame retardants, from 1 Jan 2005 or as contracts allow.For chloroalkyl phosphate products, the increase will be at least $0.10/lb, depending on the product, and for non-halogenated products the increase will be at least $0.25/lb, depending on the product. Albemarle said the increase is needed to offset increased raw material costs, and expenses for continuing regulatory compliance. Minimum order lead times may also be imposed.Antiblaze flame retardants are used in rigid insulation foams, flexible foams in furnishings; wood-based products, paper products and other packaging materials.”
