Leverkusen, Germany — Senior management changes have been announced following the news of changes at the top of Covestro in May that Markus Steilemann is to follow Patrick Thomas as CEO in 2018.
Steilemann’s position as head of the company’s polyurethane segment was taken by Daniel Meyer on 1 September 2017.
Meyer started work for Bayer France in 1992 and joined the German parent in 1997. He occupied a number of positions in the company’s pigments business before becoming product manager for coating resins in 2002. His initial responsibility was in EMEA but grew to cover the globe. Meyer worked in the Asia-Pacific region for eight years from 2004, moved back to Germany and then assumed responsibility for the firm’s Coatings, Adhesives and Specialties segment in Europe and eventually again, around the world.
Meyer’s position as head of Coatings, Adhesives and Specialties has been taken by Michael Friede. He started work as an auditor and as an assistant to the management board of Bayer. He then worked in procurement and then in the US. Friede returned to Germany in 2012 and managed the key account team in the Coatings, Adhesives and Specialties segment with responsibility for Covestro’s global elastomers business coming in 2014.
