Yangzhou, Jiangsu – In January 2014 Dairen Chemical (Jiangsu) filed for trial run of its new 30kT/year 1,4-butanediol(BDO) plant in Yangzhou, Jiangsu province, and has scheduled the plant to be in full operation by the end of February, said Zhuang Boya, factory director of the company..
Dairen Chemical (Jiangsu), a subsidiary of Taiwan’s Dairen Chemical Corp., currently has a 36kT/year capacity for 1,4-butanediol and a 40kT/year capacity for PTMEG (polytetramethylene ether glycol). According to the company’s website, Dairen Jiangsu and BASF are the two major PTMEG suppliers for the mainland China market.
The parent company claims to be the biggest 1,4-butanediol and PTMEG maker in Asia and the second biggest in the world, with respective capacities of 630kT/year and 300kT/year. It was set up in 1979 and today has a dozen plants and two research centres in Taiwan, China, Singapore and Malaysia
