By David Reed, UT EditorHorgen, Switzerland-With effec from 1 Nov., or as contract terms allow, the polyurethanes business of The Dow Chemical Co. will increase prices in Europe for toluene diisocyanate (TDI) and polyols. TDI prices will increase by Euro 200 per tonne, and prices for polyols by Euro 150/t, a 28 Sept. statement said.Similar price increases are being implemented in the Middle East, Africa and the Indian Subcontinent, the statement added.Customers interested in learning more about the price increase should contact their local Dow sales representative.Dow is the world’s largest producer of polyether polyols, a leading producer of quality aromatic isocyanates, such as TDI and methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI), and a major supplier of propylene oxide, an essential component of polyether polyols. Dow’s raw materials are used in rigid foams, flexible foams, adhesives, sealants, coatings, elastomers and agrifibers, as well as many other applications.Applications for these products cover a wide range of consumer goods, including cushioning for furniture and bedding, carpet backing, automotive seating and instrument panels, office furniture, flooring, insulation for appliances and in the construction industry as sheathing and roofing.”
