Manheim, Pennsylvania – A high-performance polyurethane/polyester composite material is at the heart of a new power transmission belt from Fenner Drives.
Called the PowerTwist Drive, it has been designed to require no retensioning after installation, saving time and money. The company claims it is a substantial advance over both rubber V-belts and previous link belting products, both of which suffer from tension decay.
The belts are resistant to heat, cold, oil, grease, water and many industrial chemicals, the company says.
In tests to track tension decay compared to an earlier version of the product, the new belt maintained the required tension throughout the duration of the test. In contrast, links had to be removed from the older belt after a run-in period to restore its tension.
