Zhongshan, Guangdong – Guangdong Homa Appliances, China’s largest fridge exporter by volume, said it plans to build a sixth plant here with 3.5m unit/year capacity, including over 1m freezers/year.
The new facilities will give Homa a 11m unit/year total capacity when the project is completed, and the company has produced 30m refrigerators by the end of 2013.
This is the first time Homa has set up a freezer line. Traditionally it has focused on freezers with between 110l and 260l (3.5-9.2 cuft). Homa said that sales of freezers in China is expected to reach 7m units in 2014, up 3% from 2013.
The new plant will use a vacuum forming machine from COMI and foaming technology from Hennecke, according to the firm’s website.
