Quingdao, Shandong – Covestro and Haier, a Chinese fridge maker, have signed a strategic cooperation agreement.
Covestro and Haier have worked together since 1984, when Bayer, Covestro’s predecessor company, supplied the first raw materials to Haier to insulate its fridges. In 2006, the firm became one of the first customers of Bayer’s MDI produced at its integrated site in Shanghai. In 2008, Haier started buying PU systems formulated at the Covestro Shanghai Polymer Research and Development Center.
