Heze, Shandong – Heze Haipu Appliances held a start-up ceremony earlier in March for its 500,000 unit/year refrigerator project in Heze, Shandong, the company told UTECH-polyurethane.com.
With a total area of 40,000 m2, the project broke ground in December 2014 and makes fridges with 200l capacity and larger, targeting mid- to lower-end markets in Shandong and two nearby provinces, Anhui and Henan.
Against the backdrop of China’s depressed refrigerator sector, Haipu is adopting a special customisation strategy to meet the cultural needs of the less saturated rural areas. “Each customer can design the exterior with images they like, such as their wedding photos or the portrait of their children,” said the company.
“We are also taking initiatives to boost online sales, and hope to expand our market to other areas in the future,” the company added.
Heze Haipu was set up in the city’s High-Tech Industry Park in 2009 with CNY 20m ($3m) registered capital, and already has capacity for laundry machines and television sets.
