Wenzhou, Zhejiang – Zhejiang Huafon Spandex plans to build a 60kT/year differentiated polyurethane elastane project over the next four years but the location of the project is yet to be determined, the company told UTECH-polyurethane.com.
With CNY1.6bn ($239m) investment earmarked, the new elastane facilities will adopt Huafon’s own continuous polymerisation and dry spinning technology in its multi-end spinning lines, according to its statement.
Huafon accounts for 18% share of the fragmented PU elastane market, said the statement.
Huafon’s PU elastane capacity will total 177kT/year when the project is completed. This figure excludes 12kT/year of uneconomic facilities which it will close.
Over the past few years the company has launched a range of differentiated products such as low temperature easy-adhesive, easy-dyeing and warp-knitted elastanes. The adoption of new technology and processes is the base for high-quality products, and is key to a better position in the high-end market, said the statement.
