By Liz White, UT staffSingapore – Huntsman Corp. broke ground 30 Nov for its new world scale Jeffamine polyetheramines facility, the company’s first production site in Singapore’s Jurong Island.Officiating at the ceremony were Don Stanutz, president of Huntsman Performance Products division and Arlan Emmert, group vice president, Asia of Jacobs Engineering Singapore Pte Ltd. Guest of honour was Teo Ming Kian, chairman of the Singapore Economic Development Board.The company expects to commission the 16 kilotonnes per annum plant in the first quarter of 2007. This new facility will transform our Performance Products business from being primarily a distributor of imported products to a business with hard assets on the ground in the centre of this exciting and fast-growing region,” said Stanutz.Polyetheramines find use as part of the amine content in polyurea spray coatings, with other key uses in epoxy coatings and concrete additives, according to Huntsman. “
