By Liz White, UT staffThe Woodlands, Texas-Huntsman Polyurethanes said 3 Oct that it will increase prices in all markets in North and South America for its MDI (methylene diphenyl diisocyanate) materials, polyols, and systems. The prices increases will take effect 1 Nov, or as contracts allow, said a statement from Huntsman. For MDI isocyanates, prices will rise by $0.08 per pound, for polyols by $0.10 per pound, and for systems by $0.09 per pound.The chemicals supplier attributed the need for these increases to “High raw material and energy costs, particularly for natural gas, following the recent hurricanes.”
