New Orleans, Louisiana – It could take until the first half of 2018 for isocyanate supplies in North America to stabilise, if nothing unexpected happens said, Caio Sedeno, Commercial Vice President, North America Dow Polyurethanes.
He was speaking on the side lines of the CPI conference here.
‘Certainly, a lot of things happened this year in isocyanates. There were lot of turnarounds. We had our own big, 45-day turnaround in April. We had several non-planned turnarounds in the industry and then, coming out of that when inventories were pretty low, Hurricane Harvey hit us, the industry.’
Speaking of Dow, he said, ‘today we have product moving, we have inventory.’
‘The force majeure on MDI has lifted and we are able to supply what our customers needed and soon will be able to supply new customers.’
Sedeno added: ‘The TDI situation continues very short, 90% of the major TDI produces online force majeure today. The market is very dry.’
‘It could be mid-2018 before the TDI market normalises,’ he added.
