By Liz White, UT staffHörshing, Austria-The last of three new presses for the Polytec For plant in Hörshing went into operation at the end of 2004. This investment enabled the group to make significant progress in using polyurethane thin-wall technology, via the latest generation of high-speed PU reinforced reaction injection moulding (R-RIM) systems. Two of the presses have a clamping force of 400 tonnes and the third press has a clamping force of 300 tonnes, and Polytec says they are equipped with state-of-the-art electronic control and safety engineering as well as an optimised hydraulic supply. This allows further improvement in the quality of the parts made and at the same time increases capacity, the firm added. The Austrian based automotive interiors group added that it is important that Polytec further develops its foaming, primer coating and painting technologies, as well as product development and tool production, to maintain its position as a market leader. “
