Gnesta, Sweden – Powerbox has launched a 400W DC/DC converter for industrial automotive applications in extreme environments. The ENA400-M converter has been potted with heat-conductive polyurethane to improve thermal dissipation inside the aluminium housing.
To protect against water, diesel fumes and dirt, the aluminium case is protected by a coating layer, and encapsulated with a polyurethane resin.
Ratified for IP67 operation and with a power efficiency of 95%, the converter can be operated at ambient temperatures between –40 and +50°C. The optimised thermal design is key to an increased lifetime in harsh environments.
It is designed for industrial automotive applications, such as vehicles in the mining, timber and construction industries, agricultural machinery and trucks. The units must operate in humid and dusty conditions, with high levels of vibration, and often with little or no ventilation.
