By Liz White, UT staffExton, Pennsylvania-Specialty chemicals manufacturer Sartomer Co. has bought Czech company Kaucuk’s liquid polybutadienes business. Sartomer has created a new subsidiary, Sartomer Czech sro, to run the operation. No financial details of the transaction were released. The unit uses liquid polybutadiene to create a series of special polymers, under the name Krasol. These are used for preparation of rubber mixtures, as a constituent for polyurethanes, as a binder for various composite materials or for the production of elastic moulds, said Sartomer’s statement. The Krasol product range joins the Polybd and Ricon resin ranges already sold by Sartomer. This operation enhances the position of Sartomer on the worldwide market of liquid elastomers, said a statement from the unit, which is a sister company of Cray Valley, both in the chemicals branch of French conglomerate, Total Group. The group within Total formed by Cray Valley, Cook Composites & Polymers and Sartomer is the second largest resins manufacturer in the world, with sales of E1700 million and nearly 3800 employees worldwide in 2004. “
