Shanghai, China – Jiangsu Maysta Chemical, which claims to be China’s largest PU surfactant maker, showcased its new family of foam stabilisers at UTECH Asia 2016 held in Shanghai.
“Stabilisers are the most important additive for foam and can influence its performance,” the company’s chairman and general manager Sun Yu told UTECH-polyurethane.com in an exclusive interview. “One of our products can reduce the quantity of fire retardant needed by over 20% compared with industry average.”
The company’s portfolio, the broadest among its domestic competitors, also covers stabilisers designed for high-end refrigerators by allowing smaller, closed cells to form. This improves insulation performance, the company said. It also has stabilisers which are designed to work with the latest generation of blowing agents.
Based in Nanjing, Jiangsu, Maysta has 20kT/year surfactant capacity after adding a new site in the city last year.
Maysta has a third of its staff on the research team, selling to major players in the sector such as Dow, BASF, Air Products and Hongbaoli. “A large number of our products are customised,” said Sun. “The development process usually takes one year but can be up to three years for highly specialised requests.”
