Freudenberg, Germany — Albrecht Baumer has launched a new horizontal splitting machine, the Split-HD 500.
The new machine can split sheets and blocks with densities of up to 400 kg/m³, depending on material and cutting thickness.
It can handle high-density materials with hardness above 40 Shore A, the company added.
The Split-HD 500 features an innovative knife guide system,in which the knife bar has a new geometrical shape. This gives greater stability and reduces friction, the company said.
The machine features a significantly more stable, large diameter press roller with a very stable suspension. This gives greater guide rigidity and good cutting tolerances, according to Baumer.
The vacuum system on the cutting table is now 40% more powerful than its predecessor. There are two knife drives for greater cutting power, short set-up times, and an intuitive touch-control system.
The new machine is aimed at the packaging and automotive industries, as well as technical applications. It can split a wide variety of materials such as polyurethane and re-bond polyurethane.
The cutting tool consists of an endless band knife with a width of 80 mm, a thickness of 1 mm and a knife bar with exchangeable upper and lower guide finding, Baumer said.
