Missisauga, Ontario – Icynene’s ProSeal closed-cell spray foam has been awarded UL Greenguard Gold certification. This means the foam can contribute points in green building programmes, comply with strict local building codes or ordinance criteria, and meet indoor air quality requirements.
The ultra-low VOC foam permits one-hour trades re-entry and two-hour reoccupancy. It has a core density of 2.4lb, and an R-value of R7.1 per inch. As a closed-cell spray foam, it is also recognised by FEMA as a flood-resistant material.
Icynene’s vp of engineering Paul Duffy said: “It’s estimated that Americans spend around 90% of their time indoors, where air pollution levels can be anywhere between two and five times higher than those found outdoors.
“The stricter certification criteria considers safety factors to account for sensitive individuals such as children and the elderly, and ensures that a product is acceptable for use in indoor environments, including schools and healthcare facilities,” he added.
