Dubai – Huntsman has announced plans to build a systems house in Dubai’s Jebel Ali Free Trade Zone, to open in the second half of 2019.
Huntsman said the new systems house will complement its joint venture HAPC in Saudi Arabia. This is a joint venture with BCI. It will also fit with the company’s EMA systems house in Turkey.
‘This is a bold investment that will serve as a strategic platform to expand our business in the middle east and North Africa,’ said Tony Hankins, president of Huntsman’s polyurethane division.
‘We now have 30 facilities worldwide in close proximity to our customers,’ he added.
Steen Hansen, regional vice president, said: ‘The MDI-based systems market in the middle east is growing at estimated rates of 7% annually.’
The systems house will focus on polyester and polyol blends for the footwear, flexible foams and CASE applications, Hansen added.
