Guangzhou, China – CNC machinery maker Nantong Healthcare Machinery (NHM) developed what it claims is China’s first roll coater for waterbased adhesives in 2014, the company told UTECH-polyurethane.com in an exclusive interview at UTECH Asia/PU China 2015.
“The machine can identify the shape of the foam with its automatic sensors and adjust the height of its roller to make an even spread,” said Lin Changbin, technical manager of NHM.
“A typical roll coater made by a Chinese company uses 80g to 150g adhesive to cover a square metre. Our machine can reduce it to 40g,” he added.
In 2014 NHM, based in Nantong, Jiangsu manufactured 200 roll coating and cutting machines and saw its revenue rise by 30% to RMB50m ($7.9m).
“All the top ten factories are using our machines,” added Lin.
The company’s business is doing particularly well in China’s coastal areas, and 40% of the company’s sales last year were contributed by overseas markets, mostly Europe, the US and Southeast Asia.
“We have cutting edge technology but copycats selling at much lower prices are causing big problems,” said Lin. “Filing lawsuits against all of them would be too expensive and time consuming, and there’s no guarantee you could win in the end.”
