Schwaebisch Hall, Germany – Recaro Aircraft Seating has received an order for 4,700 economy and business class seats from WestJet.
The Canadian airline is equipping 10 Boeing long-haul aircraft with CL3710 seats. For short and medium-haul routes, the German firm will supply BL3520 economy class seats and CL4710 business class seats for 10 of the airline’s aircraft. Seat deliveries will begin in 2018.
The CL3710 long-haul economy class seats weigh less than 12 kg. The seat maker said that this makes it ‘one of the lightest products in its class’.
WestJet will be fitting BL3520 seats for its short-haul routes flown in Boeing 737 aeroplanes. These are lightweight and comfortable, Recaro claimed.
The Canadian airline selected the CL4710 for its business class on short and medium-haul routes. The seat features stowage compartments and adjustable leg rests, and can be fitted with in-flight entertainment systems.
Mark Hiller, CEO at Recaro, said he was ‘extremely proud’ to win the order.
